Andrew (Andy) Stanley Owsiak, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020 at the age of 64 in Jacksonville, FL in the St. Vincent Clay County Hospital. Andy was born September 21, 1955 in Detroit, MI, where he grew up until he entered the US Navy. He was a decorated Navy Veteran earning a Bronze Star Medal and a dedicated Civil Service Employee. Andy was a proud member of the American Legion where he felt kinship among fellow Veterans.
Andy was preceded in death by his parents: Frank C. Owsiak and Ruth K. Owsiak; his stepmom: Josie M. Owsiak; his sisters: Connie Owsiak and Mary Ann Del Duco.
He is survived by his son: Daniel Owsiak ; his two grandchildren: Liam (Brody) and Bryce Owsiak; brothers: Frank C. Owsiak Jr., Albert Matras and Tommy Matras; his sisters, Pamela Tater, Linda Peake, Karen Stornant and Sharon Johnson; and fiancé Mary Canupp.
Andy was the type of man that would jump on his motorcycle and travel across the country to help a friend or loved one at a moment’s notice. He was a strong but kind soul that loved life and lived it to the fullest. His loyalty to friends and loved ones was always present and felt when you were around him. People close to him knew of his deep respect and compassion for all of God’s creatures, loving nature and the outdoors immensely. Having an adventurous soul, he had a lifelong passion for speed that was manifested in his building, riding and racing motorcycles. A gifted mechanic, he had an affinity for combustion and uncanny ability to keep an engine running. He was an intelligent, reliable, disciplined and hard working man that led by example and who’s actions often spoke for him. He was a father you could absorb lessons from empirically; they were the lessons for men that perpetuate for generations. He was a maverick that lived life his way, unapologetically. His life was tragically cut short but his memory will live on.
A military service in his honor will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at 2:30PM

Andy was a great guy. We were roommates in the navy barracks at Pax River Maryland. Andy taught me to ride a motorcycle. He was a big music fan and loved Bob Seger. I am sad to hear of his passing and wish I could have caught up with him before he passed away. My condolences to his friends and family.

Ill miss Andy ,he use to sit at my work bench and get daily theorpy.we rode bikes together and had lunch often while riding.Good guy and all around Buddy!!
